Our posture is more important now than it ever has been.  And it’s getting worse.  We’re on cell phones all the time.  Because of this, we’re all getting more bent over as a society.  This is horrible for our neck and back and here’s the thing- we know it.  As a society we live in pain all the time.  Humans get all kinds of arthritis and and tendonitis.  Having poor posture every now and then isn’t all that bad.   But… when it becomes normal to have bad posture every single day, and we’re hunched over all the time,  then painful times are going to come sometime in the future.

  We need to start fixing this problem.  Immediately.

What is good posture?

Here’s a health hack!

“Good posture – it’s all in the thumbs.”

Get your shoulders back and your thumbs pointing forwards in front of your body.  It’s that simple.

     

In normal standing posture your thumbs should point forwards.  They should NOT point towards each other.  If your thumbs point towards each other than your shoulders are rounded off.  Normal posture has the head back over the shoulders and a curve in the lower back.

                       

When our posture changes it causes pain in the neck and back and the arms and the legs too.  Everywhere.  Here is what to look for.  Look for tender spots in the muscles of the neck and shoulders.

                     

Also look for tender spots in the front of the shoulders.

              Ouch that hurts!

Let’s say you work at a desk all day.  If you deal with this hunching over posture for a long time it will start getting tender in the elbows too. You will begin getting tendonitis in the elbows.  It hurts.  Thepain comes on slowly.  It often takes a decade or longer.  (That’s 10 years or longer- it means you’ve had the problem a long time.)

Check yourself.  Push in on your elbows and see if you’re tender there.  If the problem progresses it continues all the way down the arm.  People can frequently get carpal tunnel in their wrist.  They start to get numbness in the hand.  Their hands can get both weak and painful at the same time.  If you’re tender in these spots then you have a chronic condition.  This means that the treatment will take some time because the problem has been there so long. Poor posture leads to neck and beck pain.  It leads to Strained Rotator Cuff degeneration.

Poor posture causes arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis- all of those “itis” conditions.

The general consensus over the years is that Arthur is the worst.  Arthritis.

Stopping the problem before it gets bad is easier than waiting on it to get bad and trying to fix it them.  By the time the pain get bad damage has already been done.

I’ll give you some information for no cost.

First, if you want to fix your posture you have to stop hunching over so much.  Period.  You have got to stop bending forward so much.

Somehow, you need to start bending backwards more often.

There needs to be a change.

You can’t go hunching forwards all the time and never stretch backwards.  Youre posture will get bent over.  You will have back problems coming.

Does this make sense?  It’s not rocket science.

      You don’t have to go to these extremes.

How does she even do that?  Oh my…

Just a little consistent stretching every day is all we need. Consistent is the key.  Stretch a little every single day.  Make it a routine.

Better posture makes you taller.  Better posture means less back pain.  Check your own posture.  Stand in front of a mirror in just a normal standing position and see which way your thumbs point. Do they point forewards, or do they point at each other?   Check out your friends and your family members’ posture.  You know the ones ones I’m talking about- the ones with the bad posture.  Go look at the ones with the rounded shoulders.  Take a look and see how far forward their head goes.

This has to be corrected somehow.
