Here it is – here’s something you can be doing right now.  I’m going to show you a simple stretch that will help you.  I want you to do it every day and it only takes 5 minutes.  If you want to try and prevent these pains from happening then this is what you can do.  The only way to get the benefit of this stretch is to do it.  It takes 5 minutes.

Take Dr. Mike’s 30 Day Posture Challenge

Lay like this for 5 minutes a day.  Lay on your back with your knees bent and your arms crossed behind your head.  Relax and meditate for the short time.  Do this for for 30 days.  I bet that after 30 days your quality of life willi omprove.  Your pain will naturally ease.

I want you to pay attention and see the little ways in which your quality of life improves.  How do you feel overall at the end of the 30 days.  Ask your spouse or your family how your attitude has been.  Your family members will tell you how you’re doing.  Do they think that doing this stretch every day for 5 minutes has helped you?

We want you to get that ease and comfort back into your life!

    Almost perfect – He needs to tilt his head back more.

Actually, while you’re laying on your back, tilt your head back and put more curve into your neck. If you could look up and put more curve into the neck it would be better.  The goal is to increase the neck curve while you’re laying back stretching.

 

Put a pillow under your lower back to begin the stretch.  Lay backwards – arms behind the head or out to the side.  Start at 2 minutes and slowly increase your time until you can lay like this for 5 minutes.  Take the time to relax.  Slow down.  Meditate during this quiet time.  Allow your brain to slow down.

How does this stretch help my posture?

Here are some posture changes we are correcting with this stretch.

Chicken Head Syndrome  AKA  Head Foreward Posture

  1. We need to get your head back over your shoulders.  You do not want your head held foreward of our shoulders!  This strains your lower neck and tight shoulders

             

This posture puts too much strain on the neck and causes arthritis and numbness in the hands.

 

2. We need to get your shoulders back over your hips.

This head back, shoulders back, chin up, thumbs facing foreward posture is a strong posture.  Poor posture weakens the body.

Keep your body centered like this.  Keep your chin up.

 

Text Neck

    What if your head just fell off from texting?

Get your head back over your shoulders before it falls off!  Nobody wants text neck.  Stop looking down for so long.

You youngins are going to feel it when you hit 30 years old.  Come back and find me when your neck starts hurting.

For everyone else already having neck aches – consistency is what matters most.

Doing this 5 minute stretch consistently will help anyone with back pain issues. You need to just make yourself do it. It takes a little work to change up your habits and do something different. Well, just make yourself do it.  You have to be fluid nowadays, isn’t that what they say?  You have to be able to change with the times. Well, it’s time to change your routine.  What you’re doing isn’t working.  Move this 5 minute daily stretch up to the top of the “important things to do” list. I hope everyone reading this blog incorporates this simple stretch into their life.  If improving your posture, your health, and your overall quality of life is important to you then you’ll do it.

 

Again, do it consistently.  There’s going to be times that you forget.  Then, before you know it, you’re not doing it anymore at all.  Well, that’s okay.  When you catch yourself not doing it anymore then you just start back.  Get back on the healthy posture train again.  You won’t do this process perfect but just try.  It’s all up to you.

Simply stretches like these are really the only way that I know to fix posture.  That’s good news!  It’s simple and cheap and and it’s up to you to do it all by yourself.   I have given you some knowledge on how to correct posture.   Ultimately, it’s your choice to take care of yourself.  Why don’t you get on the healthy train and ride with us who stretch every day.
